Over the last few years I've become a new man. How? Well, I'm
finally becoming congruent with my thoughts and my body. I've shed over
one hundred and forty unwanted pounds of fat. A new lease on life and a
new attitude toward the gym, as well as a drastically revised
relationship with food have combined to achieve huge results for me.
When my weight was at its height, I was over four hundred and twenty
five pounds. I was diabetic and near death having experienced what the
doctor suggested was a diabetic coma. My doctor gave me the "life
sentence" of having to be on insulin for the rest of my days. And I was
certainly nowhere near being able to stay on the treadmill or
stationary bike for an hour at a time. Now I spend an hour a day, every
day, at the gym. The results are improving my life on all fronts.
So why all the bragging? I'd like to take this opportunity to talk
about patience, perserverance and self persuasion. These three
attributes are like muscles and can be built up just as you build your
biceps.
To learn persuasion, one day a week isn't going to be enough to pump
you up. It's like trying to work out one day a week and expecting
amazing results. Building muscle requires consistency. Frequent short
periods of exercise and study are of more benefit than one three hour
stretch of exercise performed less frequently.
Aside from that, it's much easier to find ten or fifteen minutes a
few times a day than carving out a much larger period of time.
We're busy. We get things done. We are doers, movers, shakers,
persuaders. There's never enough time in a day. Patience does not feel
good for many of us. And yet, this is what I advise. Be patient with
yourself. Some things happen immediately, some take time. There is a
lot to persuasion. It's a very layered and rich subject and there is no
way to learn it all at once.
However, I've done everything I can to make this process smoother
and quicker, and still it takes patience. I've made significant
advances in distilling persuasion to it's very essence. It will still
take time. Think of it as ongoing. At this point in time, we are at the
forefront of persuasion. Neuro science is making incredible strides in
the mind/body connection that we are able to utilize in each session,
with each exercise and in each seminar.
That's a lot to digest. (Back to the food metaphors!)
With our intentions set, with our paths set out before us, we strive
to add layer upon layer of persuasion muscle to our lives--personal,
business, and public. Repetition after repetition we will build our
persuasion arsenals into tight, toned, compact, (or bulky, depending on
your taste), versatile, strong, and powerful tools. It thrills me to be
your persuasion personal trainer.
