*** This is part 2 of 3 in my 'adventures in reactions' article ***
*Background: Please read the post titled 'True and Pure Stoicism' on the page below for a background idea that explains where and how I was observing these reactions *
The last few reactions I would 'personally' classify as 'good' reactions. The first being shock. This reaction, in my mind, can show you that some people you thought might not really care do in fact care. Usually these people, the ones who are shocked to hear wind up moving beyond the shock to the next state. (I should note here though that sometimes, this shock can lead to a catatonic state where the person is essentially useless. Many times though the person can be, for lack of a better term, freed from this catatonic state.)
As I said above, many people who react to these types of situations with shock wind up becoming possessive. This possessiveness isn't so much a 'no one else can have time with you' reaction as it is a 'I want all the time I can with you'. This is of course a direct reflection of there worry. I would think you a fool of you didn't recognize the amount of love and admiration these possessive types hold for you. (Just remember this isn't a stocking type possessive either)
Finally the last 'good reaction' and the last reaction period that I will go over, the 'stoic' reaction. These are the people who recognize the risk entailed. They admit there concern but they don't let that concern distract them from helping you get what needs done done! These people DO care, if they didn't they wouldn't be by your side helping you and encouraging you. Remember stoic isn't void of all emotion, it's not letting the emotion dictate what you do and how you react!
I know this was long, I'm sorry for that. I have seen all these reactions though over the last week and I felt I just had to document them and help people understand them some more!
