Today in Guanajuato, my mind is in a fog, so I thought the best thing was to say so in this blog...

We've been cooped up for most of the week. Our sinus infections, as
sinus infections are wont to do, have returned. We both have fevers. We
both are dizzy. We both went out today to the store and pharmacy for drugs.

Cindi said in the store, "My head feels all fogged up and I can't
think." To which I replied, "Welcome to my world of Fibromyalgia."

We went to the bus stop right around the corner from our little Privada
to wait for the "let's-save-Doug-and-Cindi" bus. It never came. It
didn't come because we wanted it to come. If we had said, "Let's go sit
at the bus stop and have a prayer meeting", then the bus would have
shown up. Now, mind you it would not have come because we would have
been praying but because we did not want it to. This also applies to
cabs. If you say, "What a beautiful day, let's walk..." then three
thousand cabs with no one in the them would drive by you. The drivers
would even stop, all three thousand of them, and ask you if you want a
cab. If we wanted a cab none would show or they all would be on a call.

Such is life in Guanajuato.

We caught a bus, finally, half-way between our street and Embajadoras.
But, before getting on the bus we saw another bus, going the opposite
direction, hit this kid. The kid was a late teens or early twenties. The
bus practically drove up on the sidewalk while "clipping" the kid on the
shoulder. This action spun him in a complete circle but the boy did not
miss a beat talking on his cell phone and kept walking as though this
was an everyday event.

Let's just imagine, if we can, what would happen if I posted this as an
article online. Shall we count the threats? What we saw happen to this
kid has happened to me three times and yet, well, you know how the
Gringos have taken to me reporting this sort of thing.

We rode the bus to the front of the HSBC bank. We then checked the mail
and walked to Comercial Mexicana. But, before arriving there we got to
visit with an 8 month old Leopard. It was interesting.
The cat with very large teeth looked hungry.

We shopped at Comerical, bought antibiotics, and caught a cab home. The
only reason why we actually found a line of cabs willing and ready to
take us home is because I said to Cindi, "It will be impossible to get a
cab at this hour downtown..." so, there they were, an entire line of
empty cabs.

See how life works here?

We are home now and Cindi is fixing La Cena. Afterwards, we will unplug
the phone while we nap because if we don't we will get three hundred
calls for "Luis Alvarez"...

They haven't found Luis yet and no matter our protestations, they are
beginning afresh to call us looking for him.

We can't figure out if he is wanted for crimes in several countries or
just every state in the Republic.

I am heading for bed and pulling the covers over my head.
