Your book will not be written until you start. This may be the hardest part of writing a book. You need to create time in your day to give yourself time to start and write your book.

People are very busy these days but there is time you can use if you're creative. You can use little bits of time – waiting in an office for an appointment; a few minutes after lunch; waiting for a meeting, driving to and from work on that long commute, waiting for the kids practice to be done.

A true writer writes every single day. It's all about self-discipline – writing even when you're not motivated. Don't wait until you're motivated to take action. You can force yourself to take action, and motivation will follow. You have to set aside the time to write, just like you do for work. You could get up an hour earlier, go to bed an hour later or take a shorter lunch break. You do have the time needed because it does not take a lot of time to write a book.

Use this four step process to start writing:
1. Book a date and time on your calendar to start your writing.
2. Put all thoughts or excuses out of your mind except for your starting time. Ensure that your household knows this is your time.
3. Realize that your starting time will be the most important thing to do and nothing will get in your way.
4. Start.

Starting to write a book and continuing to write it may be two different things. Time needs to be allotted during your day to write your book. Treat it like you do your job, specifying times that is dedicated to starting, writing, and finishing your book.

Writing a book is something that you want to do. There are ideas, chapters, and dialogue floating in your head. How do you start? What if you get writers block? What is the process of getting your book published? Toni Grundstrom is a freelance writer researching and writing about topics that are frequently asked about. Writing a book is something many people want to accomplish.
