Are you tired of waiting in line to go through security at the airport? Are you sick of the airlines losing your luggage? Could you not bear the thought of being on one more flight with a crying baby? Well, then you should get a pilots license! It's kind of tricky, though. Before you can get a pilots license, you have to prove that you're suitable to be operating a flying death machine. In this article I will go over all of the steps necessary in order to obtain a pilot's license.
Pass a Medical Examination: This step is very important. You see, a lot of bad things can happen when you're flying 30,000 feet above sea level and you're pretty stressed out. That's why before you can get a pilot's license you have to prove that you're in good enough health to fly a plane. If you pass your examination, you will be given a certificate that can verify this. You can start training before you get the certificate, but you can't get your license without it.
Go to Flight School: Flight school is kind of like drivers education on a graduate level. Just kidding. The best way to find a flight school, is by searching online. Juts go to Google and type in something like, "flight school New York," or whatever the name of your city is. When you go to flight school you will most likely work with one instructor the whole time. Be sure to pick an instructor that you like.
Be Patient: It takes a really long time to get a pilot's license. You have to spend a minimum of 40 hours flying before you can even get a private license. Most students log about 80 hours of flight time before they decide they're ready to take their final test. Also, you have to factor in all of the time you'll spend studying off the ground.
Save Your Money: What, did you think all this stuff was free? Well, the medical examination will only set you back about $70.00, but you should expect to spend about $5,000.00 on your training. After you get your pilot's license you will still have to pay for renting a plane, too. You don't have to be super rich, but setting some money aside would be a good idea.
Pass a Knowledge and Practical Test: Finally, you have to pass two tests before you get your pilot's license. This part is just like drivers ed. First, you have to take a knowledge test to prove you have learned everything you should know. Then you have to take a practical test to prove that you can do what you know.
