Generating traffic to your links is one of the hardest things to do
when it comes to creating a website or anything you want to promote.
Here are a few simple ways which I have utilized in the past and
present to gain popularity among people using the internet.
Keep in mind that most of the methods are free but do require a bit of
effort on your part, I promise it will pay off if you stick with it.
Directory Listings - This is an age old method that some have
abandoned, but it still works. Remember, the objective here is to build
traffic, so if you seriously want it, put your link in as many places
as possible. By directory listing, you are getting one-way links back
to your site which is a great thing and improves your PR. Not your
traffic, but PR is a way to get your on Google’s top pages and
therefore more traffic. Recipricol Links are not the best way, but if you are brand new, sometimes you have to
do it. If you can do one-ways it is much better. Search engines put a
higher ranking on one-way links, so concentrate on those.
Link Exchanges - Again, reciprocal link is not as highly rated, but
it is still very effective. You need to exchange links with as many
websites as humanly possible and for best results make sure they are
RELEVANT!!! What this means is it's not a good idea to have a recording
studio site and have a lot of links exchanged with a food site. It is a
good idea for a recording studio to be exchanged with other music
related sites though such as CD mastering, mp3s, other recording sites,
etc... This shows a great deal of relevance with search engines. One
key, do not name your links page
"links.html" or anything of the sort...it's a dead give away to search
engines and they do not appreciate it. Be creative,
recording-studio-resources.html or something like that. Note, no more
than 50 links on a page!!!
Article Writing - This has proven as of recent to be a great method
to produce traffic. The goal here is to get both one-way links (on some
sites) and traffic in an all-in-one step. Here's the key to writing
good articles, you must spin every article your write. What this means
is change the articles. There are many great article spinning software
programs out there that I have used. I am now a "Expert Author" in
hundreds of sites and have submitted my same "Spinned" article over and
over. Each article generates traffic too...that's the beauty. There is
a key to all of this though, never over submit because you could
potentially SPAM your site and cause it to de-index or lose PR ranking.

Online Forums/Communities - Forums and online communities
are a great method you should take advantage of. They allow you to
target a certain group that fits the audience you are looking for. With
online communities and forums you can build trust and a good reputation
by showing your range of expertise in a specific subject. The more
valuable your posts are the more likely you are to get potential
customers visiting your site.
Newsletters - You can use a newsletter to provide people with a
catalog of your products and you can also entertain them with articles
and other
information pertaining to your specific audience. Make sure your
newsletter is interesting and entertaining that way more people will
sign up and you will have more people to market your product or service
to.
Craigslist - With Craigslist, you have a chance to advertise on some
of the biggest classified pages in the world. Millions of readers in
more than 20 countries visit Craigslist to find apartments, look for jobs and buy products and services. Best of all, Craigslist is a free service.
Google Adwords- This process does cost a little but you are guaranteed traffic. Make
sure to use specific keywords related to the products your advertising
so as not to waste too much money. Use the keyword research tool to
create top searched words to maximize profit.

eBay - Believe it or not you can advertise on eBay, you just have to
list it in the right section. I advertised my Zlio websites under the
Totally Bizarre section under Weird Stuff. It costs 35 cents but you
guaranteed some traffic. I post listings regularly to guarantee
visitors!
Mailing Lists - You can actually purchase email lists through companies and start an email campaign to advertise your websites. You can reach millions of potential customers, just don’t get added to the SPAM section!
Blogs - Blogs are easy to create and free to start. Creating blog about your businesses is a great way to promote your products
and services. You can create a customized domain name and submit it to
hundreds of blog databases. You can set one up in a matter of minutes.
