For some odd reason, when I type "how to" into my little Google search bar, "how to tie a tie" is the first suggestion that pops up even though I have never searched for it. I guess there are lots and lots of people that want to know how to tie a tie. Since I do know how to tie a tie, I thought I may as well write an AC article that will teach all those curious folks how to tie a tie. It's quite simple, actually.

First things first, make sure that you already have your shirt on, and that you are standing in front of a mirror. As you get better at doing this, you probably won't need the mirror anymore. Depending on weather you're right or left handed, balance the tie around your collar so that one end of the tie is shorter than the other. If you're right handed, it will probably be easier for you if the left side is shorter than the right, and vise versa.

Next, wrap the long part of the tie across the short part of the tie twice. Now you should have two loops. One big loop in between the pieces just below your neck, and one small loop where you wrapped the long end around the short end the second time. Take the big piece of the tie, and push it through both loops. Kind of like tying your shoe laces, but not exactly. Now you should be able to adjust the length of the tie to fit your neck by firmly holding the short end in place, and pulling down on the long end. That's it. You just tied a tie!

Wow, that was really hard to explain in words. You may have to try it a few time before you get it right. If this doesn't help you, ask a friend or relative to teach how to tie a tie. If they can't help you, try searching for a video about "how to tie a tie." If you can't find a video, buy a clip-on. Good luck.
