What I came to talk about was american royalty. My stepdad asked me the other day why everyone is so obsessed with celebrities and all of their going ons. It got me to thinking. Why are we so obsessed? Why do we feel we need to look like them? Why do we feel we want to be them? Why do we feel we want to meet them? Why does the paparazzi follow them everywhere? Why do we get gleeful and self-involved in everything bad that happens to them? Why? Why? Why? The questions can go on and on. I thought about it for awhile and I have come to a conclusion about it all.

As you know, I do believe in the Law of Attraction. My conclusion is a little along those lines. Almost everyone you talk to on a daily basis think they have the most horrible of lives. People are always talking about what bad happened to them or how they don’t have enough money (which just gets them more of that stuff). The number one thing though is that they think their relationships in life (be it friends, family, or lovers) are unfulfilling. If I hear something the most during the day it is about relationships (and lack of money)………………..then they go to a movie….or watch sports……or listen to music.

What the celebrities are doing is creating a relationship with their audience. Deep down in the audience’s subconscious they are thinking that person’s relationship is involved with their own. The audience believes they know them. When someone watches a movie they feel they know that celebrity . They feel that celebrity knows them. When a sport’s star wins, everyone gets excited with them and, therefore; they feel part of that person’s life. Also when that person doesn’t win the game; the audience sees and, therefore; feels the anguish of the player. Music is also very emotional. So, when someone listens to music they feel everything that musician is feeling and gets self-involved with them………you see, all of their other relationships aren’t working for them, so they try to forge a relationship with an unreality. Their reality is a realtionship that won’t hurt them. They think they have found that in celebrities.

With a lot of people it is just on our subconscious level (the other people we call stalkers, or paparazzi). When it comes down to it, we are all just people. All these celebrities (on the most part) are just a little more expressive creatively, than others. It will always be an American tradition to be in love with our celebrities, because they are our family. We need something to satisfy our hunger to love and be loved. Most people do it through celebrity worship.

The problem with our royalty is that we are constantly getting a string of new royalty all the time. I think what we all need to do is to respect them for their talent, enjoy their talent, stop glorifying, and focus on ourselves. The fact is that we can be our own royalty if we learn to respect ourselves.
