Talent, drive, determination, and charisma are the makings of a celebrity, however so is the desperate need for attention. When someone initially becomes a star, this is fine. When someone is young, hot and on the move, they are going to get attention. Their faces will be plastered all over the covers of magazines, movie posters and billboards. Things take a nasty turn when a career begins to go downhill. Lindsay Lohan is a perfect example of this. She was “the Mean Girl”. She was a rising starlet who even had a music career. Industry insiders separated her from the pack of teeny boppers and labeled her a true talent.
Things began to change for her when began partying and living the Hollywood lifestyle. The money, wealth, and fame increased a desire for attention that was already massive. All of a sudden she realized she could get attention for drinking, partying, and being out and about. The young starlet’s image and career began to tarnish. As her career began to decline, we saw her partying more. Lindsay Lohan is no longer an actress, she a person known simply for partying, car accidents, and stints in rehab.
Lindsay has now made a desperate attempt to resurrect her career; risqué photos of her posing as Marilyn Monroe. The photos are causing quite a buzz, but what does this say about Lindsay? Is there a similarity between Marilyn? Well, the answers are somewhat complicated. The photos represent a desperate star attempting to restart her career. They are not photos of someone showing off their body because they are comfortable with their sexuality. They are a big cry for help. Lindsay has built her whole entire career around seeking attention and she realized if she didn’t do something, she would lose it. Marilyn’s photos were no different. Marilyn may have had some sexual confidence, but her photos were more for attention. Marilyn sold sex for a living. She did whatever she could to achieve fame. She didn’t have the best acting chops, or singing voice, so she used the natural assets she was born with. Marilyn and Lindsay shouldn’t be judged any differently than any other celebrity though. Becoming a celebrity, in general, is a cry for help; especially these days. People don’t become actors because they love the craft. They become actors so the world will know who they are. They become actors to gain the attention they feel like they have never gotten.
