Personification
Tonight, we will talk about Personification... a great poetry form and a figure of speech where ideas, inanimant, inorganic objects, animals or whatever are given human characteristics. Personification is most often used in poetry that came to popularity during the 18th century... so, here it is... my own contribution to yet another form of poetry.
This poem was written after my bout with colon cancer, surgery and chemo. It is a good thing I never lost my sense of humor through all that. It is all about a big comfy white sofa and my best friend Catherine. She was given that name by a well known New Albany, Indiana attorney... who shall remain nameless.
Here she is:

You were indeed a Dear Old Friend
Quite convenient,and just dandy
When cancer came,I had to fight
You came in mighty handy
And all those long cold winter nights
You held me close to you
I know that I could not deserve
One so good and true
But days to months, and months to years
You started looking scraggly
A new couch came and took your place
I know I hurt you badly
All in all Dear Catherine
You were the perfect mate
Always, you were there for me
And never came home late
If they gave awards for furniture
I know you'd take the prize
Cause baby,you're the greatest
Especially in my eyes
