If the economic stimulus check is designed to ‘stimulate’ the US economy, we have to be careful how we spend it in order to keep it in America. Let’s take a look at how we are going to spend it.
- We can’t spend it on Gas or Oil because all of that money will go to the Middle East.
- We can’t buy a big screen TV because then the money will go to Japan.
- If we buy clothes at Wal-Mart the money will end up in China.
- If we buy a new DVD player or computer the money will go to India or Japan.
- If I want to buy fruits and vegetables to feed my family, the money will end up in Mexico and South America.
- I will not get enough money to buy a nice American made guitar, so maybe a quality South Korean made one will do.
- I also will not have enough money to buy a used American made car and keep up with the maintenance, so maybe a small used Japanese car without a lot of maintenance will do.
- The only American made product I can think of is Beer and Hookers! Made in America and affordable (I still couldn’t afford those Elliot Spitzer hookers though).
It appears to me that the only thing the economic stimulus check is going to stimulate is the inflation level. As this inflation rises, the dollar gets weaker. Germany did this after WWI (they just printed money, vice calling it a stimulus check) and it helped to fuel the Great Depression.
