This is much like what happened in the 2000 Presidential election on the Republican side of the fence. The Republicans had 2 candidates, George W. Bush and John McCain, and the race got downright ugly. George W. Bush represented an extreme right-wing conservative [neocon] movement that had and has been sweeping through the nation, and though he was not well versed and had some 'sticky past revelations' come back to haunt him, he was still the puppet figure this movement (and those so many involved with PNAC) wanted to represent them in the White House. While John McCain was more of a moderate conservative Republican that seemed to be more appealing to the American people, someone they could get behind and feel good about. But, the cronies in the neocon movement could not have that and so we saw dirty trickery played in states like South Carolina and other states along the way. Figures like Karl Rove would be hailed as the mastermind of dirty play during the primary season, which would ultimately lead to the nomination and subsequent election of George W. Bush, who will go down as one of histories worse Presidents.
The 2000 Presidential Election hinted and reflected a political voting system that has become flawed and corrupt. It left many voting Democrats disenfranchised and feeling as though their votes, their voices were forgotten and unheard. We saw the 'popular choice', Al Gore, defeated and the electoral college and supreme court choose the President of the United States for us, the people. It left so many numb and so many forecasting the mess we are in today due to putting the "wrong guy" into the White House. This disenfranchisement seeped into the 2004 Presidential Election, where so many Democrats were still numb from 2000 and all that had happened since, and once again election corruption slimed its way onto the scene again. There seemed to be no hope for an honest election in our country.
Honest elections--Wow, a Democratic process we now try to force upon other foreign countries, yet we cannot seem to get it right in our own. How can we go around pushing our governmental system onto other nations, when we cannot get it right here? We've lost our rightful place as respected leader in the world community because we are failing our own people today.
Now today, we have much of the similar occurring in the Democratic Party that was evident in the 2000 Election. We have Barack Obama, who has become the DNC's personal choice for the Democratic nomination, while the "popular voted choice", by the majority of Democrats that have already voted, is Hillary Clinton. Numerous polls show her ahead in the popular vote, even if the DNC only rules to sit Florida and not Michigan because Obama "CHOSE" to take his name off the ballot in their primaries, reflecting is inability to forecast that this election just might turn out this very way--he didn't care whether the people of Michigan's voices were heard; so, he took his name off the ballot and now whines about how unfair it would be to count that states votes because Hillary Clinton was smarter than he was and kept her name on the ballot.
The polls are not only showing Hillary Clinton as having the majority of the popular vote, but it reflects something even bigger than that. They show that out of both the candidates, Hillary Clinton is more electable when it really counts, in the November 2008 Presidential General Election against John McCain. They point with clarity at the fact that she can and would come out with an average of 300 "Electoral College" votes, you know, the ones that really count in a General Election and cinch up who is our elected President. However, the DNC and the Obama camp and certain Senators like Nancy Pelosi are crying and whinning that the primaries are over and the nomination is Barack Obama despite not every primary happening, despite him not having the total delegates or superdelegates needed. They have been stating him as the winner for weeks despite the race not being over, they have been bullying superdelegates to end this race by choosing their chosen candidate, which in some ways hijacks the Democratic Nominee. But, this will come back to bite them in the hind-end come November, unless they have some corrupt dirty play straight out of Karl Rove's playbook up their sleeves. Otherwise, they are pushing forth irresponsibly the one candidate that cannot and will not be electable over John McCain come November. The question is, "Why is the DNC, and especially Howard Dean, so hell-bent on having Obama be the next Democratic Presidential nomination"?
There are situations and associations that have leaked out about Barack Obama, much like that of George W. Bush in the 2000 Elections, and much in the same way they are being downplayed, uninvestigated, and hidden. But remember, John McCain has taken up with foul-playing cronies like Karl Rove and is promising 4 more years of Bush failed policies, meaning he will not be beyond enlightening America to those non-disclosed situations and associations the DNC and media have not been willing to touch or investigate properly to ensure that the American people have a candidate that, even after primaries are over, everyone with Democratic ideals can get behind and support.
I truly believe that the Democratic Party [DNC] is failing to put forth a candidate that can weather the storms of campaigning for President. They have pampered and babied Barack Obama and key media journalists and Democratic leaning pundits have shown a drastic bias in pushing their chosen candidate, while they have time and time again trampled on Hillary Clinton never once reflecting how knowledged and ready she is to handle the responsibility of being President.
At this point, the DNC has done an injustice to our party and does not serve or represent all that have supported and participated in our parties politics. They have indeed made Barack Obama out to be the party's golden boy, much like the neo-conservatives that hijacked the Republican Party did in 2000 and 2004. I'm just waiting for that DNC sponsored billboard on the side of a major highway displaying a well-dressed Obama sporting a "milk mustache" possessing the question, "Got Milk?"
The DNC and superdelegates and Democrats need to really dig deep and look at those polling numbers. Be responsible, the one common line toted by Democrats is: "We do not want another Republican or Bush-esque President in the White House." Well, if that is the case, we need to look beyond charming speeches of hope and toward the candidate that is a smart and sharp politician that can make words manifest into actions as she has proven for so many years, and the polls reflect as being truly more electable when it counts in November 2008.
