Everything on planet earth exists primarily because of its opposites, right? Perhaps. War is about greed, right? Maybe, but I have my own ideas when it comes to this sociological phenomenon.
Given that indeed, without some sort of conflict, the world would be a pretty boring place, i have been drawn to ponder the effects of said phenomena on the world. Certainly, as Descartes would have said, something exists because it has an opposite. So light would not exist without dark...we all know that hypothesis. But I have another one when it comes to war.
Were World War I and II the culmination of a divine attempt to take over the world? They appeared to be...but here's the catch: the great leaders of terrorist inspired war were all what could be termed "narcissists". It pains me now to grant them the single most empowering pleasure of knowing that I give them a moments more time than they deserve. Over the last few years the sense of impending global war has descended upon us mortals with a shroud of luminosity so illusive one cannot fathom from which direction it is coming. Which brings me to the reason for modern warfare: vanity.
So the American Civil War had a cause, as did the Spanish, the Rhodesian and so on and so forth, but World War II was a direct reflection of a personal psycopathic problem child. Take a moment to think of the Soviet Union's Stalin, Mao Zedong, Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin and Adolf Hitler...Even Napoleon was deemed to have some sort of psychological disorder. In any event, I am currently doing exactly what Hitler wanted me to do, or you, for that matter...talk about him for the rest of the existence of humanity. So filled with delusional vanity these men were that if they couldn't fulfill their selfish, insatiable need to be recognized for doing something good, they might as well do something bad and be remembered for it. So we continue to create for ourselves an enigma surrounding these people.
Why am I writing this? Probably because I can't be the only one sensing the sociological malfunctions the worlds continents are facing in various degrees. Gone are the days of reaching a hand out to other human beings, now its 'I'm Okay, You are Okaý, so shut up and swallow it!' The problem is we are NOT okay! We still exist under the autocracy we appear to hate, so I can't deem myself to a fighter for democracy. The idea is wonderful, as was Marx's Utopia, but its not real..it never was. We all have rights, I have a right to smack you for inflammatory remarks...but you have a right to make inflammatory remarks. It doesn't make much sense to me.
Back to the vanity and war story, wouldn't it be nice to stand up and say, "I own all the oil in the world, so beg and scrape to my infinite and supreme power."? Wouldn't it be nice to say, "I own YOU."?
Would it not be a wonderful thought to be ruled by someone who in fact had a smidgeon more sanity than those we already have? Someone without some deep horrific Freudian issue (if indeed that person exists)? Heck, even Alexander the Great had issues.
So what is wrong with our leaders (do you have a year to spare)? And no, I don't suppose I would be any better at it, which is probably why I am not running for candidacy. So while Hitler was looking in his mirror saying "Mirror mirror...who is the most invincible of them all?", we, the mirror keep answering, "Why you Adolf, the inspiration to a world of incredibly vain, self centered, narcissitic warmongerers across the world."
Okay, if I keep going in this direction, I might possibly be wiped off the face of the planet. So while I peruse my book of conspiracy theories, think about it...is war really the fight for the greater good of mankind, or just one man?
