Absent the noise of Christians and homosexuals bickering and name-calling, maybe we can quietly look at the facts that put these two groups at odds. There are Christians who say and do stupid things. There are stupid people who call themselves Christians. People from both groups are the ones down in front making all the noise. There are homosexuals who say and do stupid things. There are stupid people who call themselves homosexuals. There are people from both groups down in front arguing with the noisemakers. Can anything be solved when two stupid people argue? Let us look at some definitions. Stupid: lacking normal intelligence. My personal definition for stupid is: an otherwise intelligent person who refuses to seek the truth or refuses the evident truth in favor of his or her own idea of the truth. Christian: someone who has recognized what sin is, confessed his or her sins, asked for forgiveness, turned completely away from sin, and surrenders his or her life to Christ. There is no other definition. No other definition is needed. I have heard some homosexuals say that Christians have no right to judge anyone. That is true. There is no one among men who can say to another, "You are lost in your sins and are damned to eternal Hell." God is the only one with this right, as well as the son, Christ. Christ has judged that homosexuality is a sin, an abomination. Abomination means, "to loathe". Put simply, God hates homosexuality. In the King James Version of the Holy Bible, the book of Leviticus, chapter eighteen tells us who we many not have sex with. Verse twenty-two states that man shall not lie with man and woman shall not lie with woman in the manner that man and woman lie with each other. It is an abomination. There are more scriptures that support this fact. There is no need to list them all. One is enough to convict of sin if a person has not been given over to his or her own wicked heart. I have heard some say that Jesus threw out the laws of God and told everyone to love whomever and however. There is no statement more ludicrous than this. In Matthew chapter five and verse seventeen, Christ tells us that he came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. To fulfil the law is to carry it out. Christ obeyed the laws God gave us and He expects us to obey them also. Christians often make the statement, "I don't hate the sinner, I just hate the sin." The problem for the homosexual is that Christians have great difficulty practicing this principle. It is so difficult for us to teeter on that fine line of loving the sinner without appearing to condone the sin. I love my children enough that I would die for them. If my son or daughter was addicted to Meth, I would love my child and hate the fact that he or she was killing himself horribly and slowly. I would offer my love while making it plain that she was not allowed to use this drug while in my care. That is what the Christians are trying to say even if we don't say it well. Whenever a homosexual tells someone he is a Christian, he does not speak the truth. Sin must be recognized, confessed, and turned away from. A practicing homosexual cannot be a Christian. Do Christians sin after receiving salvation? Yes, they do. They will until Christ returns for them. Does this give homosexuals excuse to continue in homosexual practice? No. Whenever a true Christian sins, the Holy Spirit convicts him of the sin and he is miserable until he confesses and turns away from the sin. While a Christian has unconfessed and unrepented of, sin in her life, she will not receive God's blessings. God never rewards a sinner, saved or lost. The sinner suffers the natural consequences of sin. If a man commits adultery, he may lose his entire family, or catch a veneral disease. If a woman steals, she may go to prison. Sin is always punished. The lost sinner may not pay until the final day when he is judged and receives eternal seperation from God and those in His Kingdom. Christians recognize sin for what it is. Homosexuals do not see same sex intercourse as sin. Until they do, they cannot be saved. This is not a judgement that I have made. This is a fact that God has stated in His Word. If anyone does not believe in the word of God and chooses to practice homosexual activity, so be it. He has that right. I have the right to my beliefs. When I am asked, I say that homosexuality is sin. That is not a hate statement. I do not hate anyone. I have at least one person in my family that is a homosexual. I love this person with all my heart. We laugh and love, and share great memories together. I do not preach to him. He knows what the word of God states. He chooses to continue his life as is. I love him still. He knows what I believe. He loves me still. I hurt for him, but I cannot change him. To all homosexuals out there, you cannot change me. I will never say that your lifestyle is just another equally good option. My religious beliefs will not allow it. I respect your views, please respect mine. As for special rights, you have the same rights as everyone else does. Job benefits from your partner's job? Why should you? Unmarried couples living together don't have those benefits. Job discrimination? I have never seen a job application with this question: "With whom do you have sex with whenever you have sex?" If I ever do, I will ask why that information is needed. You say people can tell that you are homosexual. Why is that? Are you different, do you act differently? Do you purposefully make it known? Do you want to start trouble? If you want to be accepted in society for who you are, stop telling everyone you meet who you sleep with. We don't care. We are not impressed. Just be a descent human being and allow people to like you because you are a likable person. Remember, we will always have stupid people among us. We just have to deal with it.
